It is easy to get carried away when packing for a day on the river. Based on our experience, we recommend bringing only the most important items.
There are a few rules of thumb that we feel you should consider when choosing what to bring.

  • Do not wear cotton!!! Choose synthetic materials that dry quickly and provide warmth even when wet.
  • Layer, Layer, Layer!!!
  • Do not wear flip flops!!! Choose footwear that strap securely to your feet like tennis shoes or river sandals.
  • Leave all the really important stuff at home. Please don't bring anything you are not willing to lose or get wet. Things like jewelry, passports, wallets,  expensive cameras, credit cards, etc, should be left at home.
  • Leave towels and a change of clothes in the car for the ride home.
